Love Affair - End Part
Chapter 4 – A Night of Terror
It
was cold, dark and quiet. Even Eleanor could hear the voice of sea waves and
two women were talking and laughing but she could not see anything nor scream.
She was blindfolded, her mouth was taped and her hands were tied up in a wooden
chair. She was so terrified and expected that she would be assaulted at any
moment. While downstairs, Olivia gloated over the succeed of her “prank” and
prepared cocktails to herself and Emily.
“
This is to both of us!”, said Olivia with her hand raised the glass to Emily.
“
So what are you gonna do to her after this Liv? Don’t you think it’s enough? We
have to let her go before anyone finds out that she’s missing or Caleb comes
back.”
“
Relax Em. I will let her go as soon as I make her do the pregnancy test. I just
wanna make sure that she’s not carrying any child from Caleb because that would
be my doom. Now, let’s go upstairs to the attic. I assume she’s already
conscious.”
Before
they went upstairs, Olivia took a knife and then both of them rushed upstairs
to the attic and there, they watched Eleanor was struggling and tried to untie
her hands.
“
Leniiiii....oh..Leniiiii...What a pretty face.” Olivia whispered to Eleanor’s
ear while her hand playing the knife around Eleanor’s face and she could see by
the look of Eleanor that she was crying, so frightened and tried to scream.
“Hush
darling, hush. No one would hear you. It’s just us now. Don’t you recognize my
lovely voice sister or should I call
you bitch? I know you must be so
confuse now and thinking ‘did I do something wrong?’ and yes. The answer is
yes, bitch! You’ve done something that terribly wrong by sleeping with my
husband, Caleb! I’m not his sister, you idiot! I’m his wife! Now, I’m gonna
make you pay for what you’ve done!”
Olivia
scratched Eleanor’s face with the knife while Emily suddenly yelling at Olivia.
“ Stop it! Please, Liv. That’s enough and I can’t take it anymore! Just do the
pregnancy test, okay? Then let her go. I can’t stand watching you torture her
any longer.”
“Oh, come on it’s just a scratched, Em. Her
pretty face will back to normal. Alright then, let’s unfold her and open that
tape.” Emily unfolded Eleanor and opened the tape. She could feel the fear and
felt sorry to Eleanor.
“
I’m sorry Liv. I didn’t know that Caleb’s your husband. I’m so sorry. Please,
just let me go. I won’t meet him anymore and I won’t tell anybody about any of
it. I’ll leave you be. Just please, don’t hurt me and let me go.” Eleanor
begged Olivia.
But
before Olivia could say anything, at the same time, Caleb returned home
unexpectedly and was calling her name from downstairs. Olivia’s face turned,
from anger to nervous and confusion. Then she taped Eleanor’s mouth again and
put the knife down the floor. “ Come on, Em let’s go downstairs. We need to
distract him and Len, don’t even try to make some noise or I swear I’ll kill
you!” Then off they went downstairs.
Chapter 5 – It’s
Positive!
Caleb
had already been in the living room and sat on a couch that looked so cozy. He
loosened his tie and tapped on his phone. He tried to call Eleanor but suddenly
he heard Olivia’s voice.
“
Hai baby, you came early. I thought that we would have dinner at 8. I haven’t
got dressed yet. Besides, Emily came to pay a visit.”
“Yeah,
I’m sorry beb. I should have called you earlier but I thought that I wanted to
surprise you. My meeting had been canceled. Oh, I didn’t realize that you were
in town, Em. How are you?”
“I’m
pretty great, Cal. You know what, I’ll just leave you two. I’ve got something
to do.” Emily’s face was full of confusion but she tried to act normal.
“Actually
Em, I would love too if you join us for having dinner together. Like old times.
Now beb, why don’t you sit back and relax for a while, Emily and I will get
dressed.”
“Okay
then.”
Olivia
held Emily’s hand and they headed to the master bedroom. Olivia searched
through her bag and finally found the pregnancy test. Then she handed it to
Emily.
“Here,
I need you to go upstairs again and make her do the test. I will be here and
get dressed. You get it?”
“But,
how if she refuses?”
“Just
MAKE her do it!”
Olivia
was running out of patient that she yelled to Emily. Then without saying any
more words, quickly Emily went upstairs. When she got into the attic, she found
Eleanor tried to escape and she did. Eleanor held her phone and texted her
mother for help then she put up the knife which was on the floor and faced
Emily.
“Put
the knife on the floor, Leni. I’m not here to hurt you. I just want you to do
the pregnancy test just as Olivia asked. Please, just do it. I’ll promise I’ll
let you go and don’t call the police.”
Eleanor
yelled, “Why should I believe you?!”
“Look,
I don’t ask you to believe me but you know that I won’t hurt you. So please,
just do the test and you’re free to go. Caleb’s downstairs now and believe me, you
don’t want him to know about any of this because if he knows then Liv will make
your life more miserable.”
It
took a minute for Eleanor to think it
through but then she agreed with Emily. She put the knife down and took the
pregnancy test. While Eleanor was doing the test, she and Emily had a little
chat.
“Leni,
you are such a nice girl and you deserve someone better. You’re still young.
Don’t let them ruin your life by your love affair with Caleb. It’s not worth
it. So, how’s the test? Hope it’s negative.”
“I’m
sorry Em”, said Eleanor sadly while she held the pregnancy test.
“Wait,
why did you say that? Oh my god, oh no. You’re pregnant, aren’t you?”
Eleanor
couldn’t speak any words and she just nodded then burst into tears. She was so
frightened and trembling. Emily held her then took the pregnancy test and said,
“Poor you little thing, come on, let’s get you out of here. I won’t let Liv
hurt your baby. Stay focus Len, now we need to go downstairs and I will hide
you in the guest’s room. Then I will distract Liv.”
They
both went downstairs quietly and headed to the guest’s room. Then Emily opened
the door and let Eleanor in. “Stay in here and don’t go anywhere til I get
back. Ok?” Eleanor nodded and saw Emily went away but she left the door opened
a little.
Chapter 6 – Caught
Olivia
was in the kitchen. She was cutting some oranges and put them in the blender.
She was making an orange juice for Caleb. Then she stopped what she was doing
when she saw Emily with a horrible face. “What’s wrong Em? You looked
terrible.”
“Liv,
I’m sorry but she escaped and I’ve already searched for her anywhere but I
couldn’t find her.”
“That’s
impossible!! Don’t play me, Em! I’m not a fool. She couldn’t just escape
without you helping her!”
From
a distance, Caleb heard they were arguing over something. He couldn’t help
himself so he walked toward the kitchen and stood behind the door to eavesdrop.
“Find!
Yes, I helped her escaped and that’s because I don’t want you to do horrible
things anymore to her. Besides, she’s pregnant and for God's sake, spare her
life!”
“What
did you just say?! She’s pregnant Em. PREGNANT! She’s carrying Caleb’s child
and I suppose to let her go just like that?! Now, tell me where she is or I
will hurt you too Em!” While Olivia said that, her hand was reaching for a
knife.
Just
right before Emily could say anything, Caleb came in and stood between them. He
couldn’t stand for what he had heard and confronted his wife. “What have you
done Liv? What did you do to Leni? Where is she?”
“Really?
You’re asking about her without thinking about my feeling?! How dare you! Do
you realize that your little whore is ruining our marriage and now she is
carrying your baby! And here you asked me what I have done. What about what
have you done Cal?!”
“Look,
Liv. I know you’re mad and this is all my fault. I’m sorry, okay? I’ll fix it
but please you have to tell me where she is and just let her go.”
“Sorry,
huh? Seriously Cal?! And still, you want me to tell you where she is! That’s
it. That’s enough! I’m gonna make her pay for what she did!” Olivia put up the
knife and walked towards Emily but Caleb blocked her and signaled Emily to run
and get Eleanor out of there. At that moment, Emily instinctively ran towards
the guest’s room. Olivia, drove by her anger, accidentally thrust the knife
through Caleb’s heart. Blood started dripping to the floor while Caleb was
still holding Olivia. Then, slowly he got off his hands from Olivia and fell to
the ground. He was asphyxiate and tried to say something. Olivia was filled
with horror and shocked for a minute. She was thunderstruck and just stood by
the table, watched her husband dying on the floor. Then she down to her knees
and burst into tears. Caleb tried to reach her hand and with all his strength
he said, “Forgive me, my love.” Right after saying those words, Caleb drew his
last breath. Olivia held him so tight and said sorry for what she had done. She
was sobbing desperately on Caleb’s dead body.
While
at the same time, Eleanor, who was in the guest’s room, heard footsteps
approached the room. She also put up the knife which she got from the attic,
the one that Olivia left behind and got ready to open the door. As the
footsteps came closer, her paranoid kicked in. She opened the door and just
stabbed the person who was in front of the door. It was her act of defense. She
thought that it would be Olivia but it turned out that the person she stabbed
twice was Emily. The room filled with silence until there was a clink sound of
the knife dropped to the floor. Eleanor stunned for a moment. Then her phone
vibrated, it was alerting for an incoming
call. She quickly picked up the phone and from the other line someone spoke,
“Miss, this is Bali Police Detective requesting your exact location in the
house. We have surrounded the house but we can’t get in without knowing your
whereabouts. Can you hear me, miss? Miss?”
With
a trembling voice, Eleanor answered, “Yes, I can hear you sir. I-I-I am in the
guest’s room, first floor, at the back of the house.”
“Stay
there and stay calm. I’ll send someone to get you. Your mother’s here, I’ll put
her on the phone.”
“O-k-a-y”
“Honey,
sweetheart. Oh my god, are you okay? Are you hurt?”
“I’m
fine mom but I’m not okay.” Eleanor burst into tears and her voice became more
trembling than before. “I just K-I-L-L-E-D somebody,mom.”
“Look,
Leni. Listen to me carefully, I need you to stay calm until the police get you
out of there and it was just an accident. It wasn’t your fault,okay? Do not
blame yourself!”
But
before Eleanor could answer the phone, she dropped it to the floor. She saw
Olivia had already stood beside Emily’s dead body. Olivia touched Emily’s cold
body and then closed Emily’s eyes. Olivia whimpered and looked into Eleanor’s
eyes with hatred and anger. She threw all of her emotions into turmoil.
“I
swear it was an accident Liv, I didn’t mean it. I was so frightened and
everything’s happened so fast without realizing it was her. I am so sorry.”
“Do
you really think I’ll believe you?! NO! You, little whore will pay for any of
this!”
All
of a sudden, Olivia jumped to Eleanor and tried to stab her. Luckily, Eleanor
reflexed and avoid the attack. For the second time, Olivia tried to stab her
then Eleanor quickly grabbed a vase near the table where she was standing at
and hit the knife. Automatically, the knife fell and lied on the floor. Just as
Olivia turned around her body and tried to grab back the knife, Eleanor pushed
her and kicked her leg so that Olivia fell to the ground and then she made an
escape. Eleanor ran as fast as she could towards the living room but just a
couple of seconds later Olivia had already ran after her too. Olivia threw the
knife to Eleanor and finally it stabbed into Eleanor’s right thigh. At once,
Eleanor fell to her knees. She was whining in pain and trying to get the knife
out of her right thigh. Blood started streaming down from her thigh. Then
Olivia came close to her and pulled her hair with her left hand while her right
hand choked Eleanor’s neck. Eleanor became suffocated, she tried to put Olivia’s
hand away with her left hand while her right hand was still trying to get the
knife from her thigh.
“Hush
sweety, hush. Don’t fight it and soon you will have a long good sleep. You’ll
join Caleb too. Isn’t that what you want? To be forever with him?!” Olivia said
it with her sarcastic tone. However, from a distance they could hear some
footsteps came closer. It was the police officers. It was a sign of hope for
Eleanor and with all her strength she finally got the knife out of her thigh
and just stabbed it to whatever parts of Olivia’s body without even looking at
it. Instantly, Olivia screamed and let go of Eleanor. It turned out that the
knife stabbed her right side of the body, exactly where the heart lies. She
held the knife with her trembling hands and still in shocked while Eleanor was
trying to walk by dragging her body. Eleanor had already lost a lot of blood
and she became weak. Blood splattered everywhere. The white marble floor turned
to red and the sense of horror filled the room.
Eventually,
the police officers came and they help Eleanor to stand and took her outside.
At the same time, Olivia was caught lying on the floor by the police officers.
She was dying and so much in pain and her hands were still holding on to the
knife. Soon, the medics came up and helped her. She was carried on a stretcher
with her hands were handcuffed and they took her outside too. Then she was
taken to a hospital by an ambulance with fully under police’s observation.
The
cold was so gripping that night. It made Eleanor shivering outside the house. As
soon as her mother saw her, she came straight to her and held her so tight and
said, “Thanks God you’re alive!” Then she kissed Eleanor’s head gently.
“You’re
right mom. You always right. If I had done the things that you had said or
believed you then maybe any of this wouldn’t have happened. Even maybe Caleb
would still alive.”
“None
of that matters Len. All that matters now is you’re still alive and I got my
daughter back!”
Eleanor
couldn’t speak any more words. She just kept crying and trembling. But deep
down in her hearts, she was still feeling guilty of what happened to Caleb and
Emily. The dead faces of those two people crept into her mind. After that, the
medics took care of her injured thigh and soon she was taken to the hospital
too and the police sealed the house as a
crime scene.
The
detectives kept investigating the crime scene and the case until Olivia was found
guilty. It turned out there were hidden cameras in that house. They found CCTV
footage that recorded the crime. Eventually, with the CCTV footage as an
evidence, Olivia was put into prison.
Time
went by so fast, without Eleanor even realizing it. She was still mourning for
Caleb and Emily. However, the most terrible thing happened to her, not only she
lost two persons already but she also lost her baby. She couldn’t sleep for
weeks and sometimes she screamed in her sleep. Then she decided to talk to a
therapist and it helped her a lot. After a period of time, finally she got
herself back and made peace with what had happened in the past. In fact,
she decided to go on traveling and healing her feeling.
