Journal 4

My previous journal was about cultural event and things that could change my life of who I become. Time went by so fast that now is the last meeting in writing class. After writing the third journal, my lecture assigned me to write a narrative. It was a bit different from autobiography. So, this is what I learned from my last assignment in writing class.
An autobiography is the story of a person’s life and narrated by that person. It is always written in the first person and it narrates the whole life story of the author, from start to the present in the person’s life. It is an account of all the places, people and events that made the writer’s life what it has been, as well as the lessons learned and experience gained. The structure of autobiography is not necessarily given in chronological order. It can be started with a striking event and then go back to take things from their actual beginning.
As for a narrative, it is told as a story of connected events, it can be non-fictional (actual) or fiction (imaginary) and it is written in chronological order. The story can be told by a narrator who may be a direct part of that experiences as a first-person narrator but sometimes he or she may only observe the events as a third-person narrator and gives his or her verdict.
After I understood the difference between autobiography and narrative, I began to write a draft for my narrative. I had to form some characters, a setting and a plot. Besides, I had to think creatively about the conflict and how the story ended. From writing narrative, I learned a lot and I could enrich my vocabularies too.
