Idiom as a joke
It was last Sunday when my boyfriend and I went to a church
and talked with the preacher. We talked desperately about our struggle in running our own café. We
both know that it is not an easy business to run, especially where there are a lot of competitors out there. We have to make a perfect concept and
everything. Then the preacher said , “You don’t need to worry, keep praying and
let God does his work. Do not forget to stay calm too” . My boyfriend said,”Yes,father. We
have already prayed but it seems like everytime we do something, it never works
out and then the pressure of people keep saying ‘it’s just a peace of cake to open a
café’ makes us more stressful”. My boyfriend’s face was so upset and sad. After
that the preacher said something funny to light him up, he said, ”Huh,piece of cake, right?! Well, obviously
who ever created this phrase, has never made a cake,or tried to cut it and frost
it while it is still hot”. After he said that, we laughed together joyfully. We did not have any clue that the preacher could refer the idiom as a joke.

The preacher got a point there :). It's not easy to start a new beginning, but we don't need a great start but we have to start to be great. Keep inspiring.
ReplyDeleteHehe.. I see what he did there. Keep going, there always be bright days after dark storms. Best of luck for it :)
ReplyDeleteAh, finally. I've found someone who have had struggle the same thing like me.
ReplyDeleteActually, i've had my own project this year. Yep, i was going to open a cafe with my brother. We've saved our money for months but it's all cancelled due to the risk.
You must have known that running a cafe (especially with our own brand) is a very difficult thing. Like what you've said to me before, people go to a cafe in order to spend their time in a place which has good atmosphere in it.
Anyway, i will bring your own struggle to my prayer. I hope, your new cafe will have launched soon. Amin.
PS: Don't forget to invite me on the first day because i want to become your first customer. LOL.
Good boyfriend...
ReplyDeleteGreat story, Yosephine. It seems that you have no problems at all in applying the English tenses to your writing. However, please recheck again before publishing your work especially on the spacing. =)
