Journal 2

The last time I wrote my first journal was about earlier activities in writing class. I wrote a story called “Idiom as A Joke” and I got a comment from my lecture that I forgot to hit “the space button”. Clearly, it was a simple mistake, yet, made a significant point in writing. Another mistake that I learned is that we cannot use contraction in writing. For example, if you write “it’s”, this word can be read as “it is” or “it has” and that will produce a different meaning. That is why we cannot write like that because sometimes it can make the readers confuse by its meaning.

The next task on the fourth week, my lecture ordered us to make an autobiography which included about myself, people around me and important event in my life. Actually, the first part was not a difficult one because I just wrote all about myself such as where I came from, family members, my education histories, then my appearance and my personalities. Although, I had a slight difficulty when I wrote about my physical appearance. Lack of vocabularies was the main problem. I completed the task and I submitted it. Turned out my writing was getting better. Less mistakes and just needed to be elaborated a little.

After I wrote about myself, I wrote about the people around me. They are my family, my boyfriend and my best friends. I described them one by one, about their personalities and how I met them. My lecture said that my story flowed really well and I started to show my writing style. However, I still have minor mistakes in grammar and spacing as well as punctuation.

The last part of the autobiography was about the important event in my life. At first, I had a difficulty in writing the opening words. It took me some time to write down the proper words. Afterwards, I began to write about my life improvement, how it began, the problems I had, the turning point of my life and finally what life has taught me some lessons.

There are some lessons that I learn from my mistakes in writing so far. First, always give a space or a gap between words. Second, try to put a  proper conjunction when you write a new sentence. Third, no contraction in writing. However, what I still need to learn is vocabularies. Due to the midterm writing test, I prepare myself with reading some books and dictionary to enrich my vocabularies.
